Americans are getting conned. Or maybe, because so many of them detest President Trump so much, they want to be conned.
Either way they are making a Faustian bargain by buying into the lie that Trump’s main opponent, former vice president Joe Biden, is a wonderful guy. He’s “Good Old Joe.” And they will presumably take that prejudice into the voting booth, ignoring anything bad about Biden or willingly accepting all the myths about him.
Fifty two percent of Americans believe that the recent charges of influence peddling against Biden and his family are part of a Russian disinformation campaign, according to a newly released public opinion poll. Yet there is no evidence that the Russians are doing this. These Americans are willingly ignoring the disturbing evidence, as produced by a U.S. Senate report as well as in hundreds of recently released emails between Biden’s son, Hunter, and foreign operatives trying to manipulate the United States government.
Don’t You Care?
Why has so little of this seemed to matter to voters and journalists in this election cycle? This is partly because voters aren’t being served by the media.
“The media’s corruption is complete,” complains New York Post columnist Michael Goodwin about the mainstream media trying to rig the election in Biden’s favor.
I think this blind prejudice is also mainly because millions of Americans hate Trump so much that they will accept or blind themselves to anything bad about Biden. And there’s plenty bad about Biden, even going back to when he served as vice president in the Obama Administration between 2008 and 2016.
These issues of pay for influence issues were recently publicly raised by a former naval officer, Tony Bobulinski. He recently exposed the Biden corruption in a on air television interview. They all point to the same thing: There is something corrupt about the career of Biden, who served decades in the U.S. Senate and eight years as vice president.
The Senate Reports
Indeed, a report of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Government Affairs, the record, or at least questions, go back years.
“On April 16, 2014, Vice President Biden met with his son’s business partner, Devon Archer, at the White House,” according to the Senate Homeland Committee report on the Biden family. “Hunter Biden, Burisma & Corruption.”
“Five days later, Vice President Biden visited Ukraine, and he soon after was described in the press as the public face of the administration’s handling of Ukraine. The day after his visit, on April 22, Archer joined the board of Burisma. Six days later, on April 28, British officials seized $23 million from the London bank accounts of Burisma’s owner, Mykola Zlochevsky.
Fourteen days later, on May 12, Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma, and over the course of the next several years, Hunter Biden and Devon Archer were paid millions of dollars from a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch for their participation on the board,” according to the committee report.
Wake Up, America
Isn’t that bad enough; isn’t this activity something that should be thoroughly considered by the voters and the press? Indeed, the committee’s record, along with the record of the emails and Bobulinski raise disturbing sleazy questions about Biden family deals around the world.
“The records acquired by the Committees also show that Hunter Biden and his family were involved in a vast financial network that connected them to foreign nationals and foreign governments across the globe. Hunter Biden and Devon Archer (Archer was Biden’s business associate), in particular, formed significant and consistent financial relationships with the corrupt oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky during their time working for Burisma, and their firms made millions of dollars from that association while Joe Biden was vice president and the public face of the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy. Rosemont Seneca Thornton, an investment firm co-founded by Hunter Biden, received $3.5 million in a wire transfer from Elena Baturina, who allegedly received illegal construction contracts from her husband, the then-mayor of Moscow.”
Going Beyond the Urals
The committee said the record of these unethical deals goes beyond Russia to Central Asia.
“Archer’s apparent receipt of money for a car from Kenges Rakishev of Kazakhstan while Vice President Biden was in Kyiv is especially concerning in light of the timing. And finally, Biden and Archer’s work with Chinese nationals connected to the Communist regime illustrate the deep financial connections that accelerated while Joe Biden was vice president and continued after he left office. The Chairmen’s investigation has faced many obstacles from the minority and from executive agencies that have failed to comply with document requests. Accordingly, there remains much work to be done.”
Yes, indeed, the committee is quite right. There is lots of work to be done in sorting out this record of influence peddling. And, whether it happens before or after the election, it seems to me that all this will not go away even if Trump goes away after the election.
Biden, in the late polls, is still narrowly ahead and may win. But he may end up regretting that he won the presidency. In 1972, President Richard Nixon contained the brewing Watergate scandal and was able to win the election. Later, in his second term, the scandal destroyed his administration, yet he had easily won just a year or so before. Biden and his allies should be careful what they wish for—they may just get it, but not quite in the way that they expect.

And possibly there is another reason why the media, most of it left wing and with a huge stake in a Biden victory, has failed during this election cycle. The Biden corruption questions, if effectively investigated, may just lead to more questions about a lot of other public officials, both Democratic and Republican, who have made tons of money by selling their offices and selling out the American people.
